In the early 1960s, in Southern California, a fearless creative culture was in the air, and Leo Fender set out to design a new collection of acoustic instruments that captured the innovative spirit of the artists around him. Working with legendary luthier Roger Rossmeisl, Leo launched several unique acoustic models that embodied the character that made Fender a symbol of the rock-and-roll revolution, with unmistakable headstock shapes, easy-playing neck profiles and radical styling, forever changing the face of Fender acoustics. Today's Fender California Vintage models draw directly on their mid-century origins with a retro visual atmosphere, adding 21st-century performance and a rich, refined acoustic tone: a true modern alternative carrying the classic Fender legacy.
Designed with an innovative Performance X™ bracing pattern, the Fender California Vintage Palomino™'s medium-size auditorium body is built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid ovangkol back/sides to effortlessly produce a versatile, articulate voice with exceptional detail, clarity and balance. The okoume neck was given a modern ergonomic "V" profile along with a 25.5" scale for optimal sustain, and a 6-in-line tilt-back headstock with maple cap for a distinctive look rooted in the DNA of Fender electric guitars. Other notable details include an ovangkol fingerboard with binding and pearloid block inlays for a retro look, vintage-style tuning machines for smooth, precise tuning, and bone nut and saddle for superior harmonic character. Designed for performers, the built-in Fishman® Presys VT Plus preamp system features seamless soundhole-mounted controls that blend an under-saddle piezo and an internal body transducer to deliver faithful, reliable reproduction of the guitar's natural sound when connected to an amplifier or recording device. A vintage-style hardshell case is included.
