A period of major change for both Fender and pop culture at large, the 1960s saw the Strat soften slightly as it grew in popularity. The white pickguard was updated to mint green, while the fingerboard shifted from the original maple to rosewood, a wood able to add a more harmonious note to the Strat's clear, articulate tone.
