The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably faithful reinterpretation of the groundbreaking designs that changed the course of music history. Built with historically correct bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and painstaking attention to tone, with era-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of Fender's most authentic craftsmanship and tone.
During the late 1950s and early 1960s, the popularity of Fender instruments grew steadily, and although Fender's line-up expanded to include many outstanding new instruments, the Stratocaster® reigned supreme. By 1961, the Stratocaster stood out for a more refined aesthetic, with a reworked 3-Color Sunburst featuring a livelier red and a bolder black edge, completed by a 3-ply pickguard that accentuated its unmistakable curves.
With a premium alder body, a trio of Pure Vintage 1961 Stratocaster pickups and a Medium "C"-profile maple neck paired with a 7.25" radius slab (flat-back) rosewood fingerboard, the Stratocaster American Vintage II 1961 fully reproduces the sound and feel of the original. Other features include a historically accurate "synchronised tremolo" with cold-rolled steel blocks, bent steel saddles, "Fender Deluxe" in-line tuning machines and a 3-ply pickguard.
