The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably faithful reinterpretation of the groundbreaking designs that changed the course of music history. Built with historically correct bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and painstaking attention to tone, with era-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of Fender's most authentic craftsmanship and tone.
By 1973, the by-then-classic stylistic features of the CBS era had become standard, widely adopted by rock, funk, fusion and prog musicians the world over. Weekly late-night music programmes such as Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, In Concert and Midnight Special gave Fender instruments unprecedented visibility, further cementing the Stratocaster's dominance as a pop-culture phenomenon. The American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster® embodies the spirit of the era and is equipped with a trio of staggered-pole Pure Vintage '73 pickups, a large headstock with dual string trees, a handy "Bullet" style truss rod nut, and a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt™ mechanism. The "C"-profile maple neck offers ultimate playing comfort, with a rosewood or maple fingerboard with a 7.25" radius and vintage-height frets. The guitar is available in three classic colours on an ash body: Aged Natural, Lake Placid Blue and Mocha, the latter being the first ever custom colour to pair a black pickguard with a Strat®. Other features include vintage-style tuning machines with stamped "F" and a synchronised tremolo with bent steel saddles and cold-rolled steel block.
