In the early 1960s, in Southern California, an untamed creative culture was flourishing, and Leo Fender set out to design an original collection of acoustic instruments that captured the innovative spirit permeating the artists around him. Working with legendary luthier Roger Rossmeisl, Leo produced several exclusive acoustic models that embodied the character that made Fender a symbol of the rock'n'roll revolution, including unmistakable headstock shapes, easy-playing neck profiles and radical styling, forever changing the face of Fender Acoustics. Today, the Fender California Vintage models draw directly on their mid-century origins, with a retro look, adding 21st-century performance and a rich, refined acoustic sound, a truly modern alternative that carries forward the classic Fender legacy. Designed with innovative Performance-X™ bracing, the dreadnought body of the Fender California Vintage King is built with a solid Sitka spruce top, and solid ovangkol back and sides, naturally producing a bold voice, rich in bass, with exceptional detail, projection and volume. An ergonomic modern "V" profile was chosen for the okoume neck with a 25.5" (64.77 cm) scale length for optimal sustain, and an angled headstock with 6 in-line tuners with maple veneer for a distinctive look rooted in the DNA of Fender electric guitars. Other important details include the bound ovangkol fingerboard with retro-look pearloid block inlays, vintage-style tuning machines for precise, smooth tuning, and bone nut and saddle for superior harmonic character. Designed to meet every performer's needs, the Fishman® Sonitone Plus preamp system offers soundhole-mounted controls that blend an under-saddle piezo pickup with an internal body transducer to deliver faithful, reliable reproduction of the guitar's natural sound when connecting to an amplifier or recording device. A vintage-style hardshell case is included.
