The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably faithful reinterpretation of the revolutionary designs that changed the course of music history. Built with historically correct bodies, necks and tuning machines, top-tier finishes and the utmost attention to tone, with era-specific pickups, every instrument captures the essence of the most authentic Fender craftsmanship and tones.
Just one year after the launch of the Broadcaster®, Fender received a cease-and-desist telegram from the Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co. demanding a name change for the flagship of its electric guitars. Inspired by the unstoppable boom and growth of television, the first Telecaster came to life in 1951, and has remained in production ever since. Deceptively simple and utterly revolutionary, the Telecaster® brought the solid-body electric guitar to the masses, inspiring countless musicians throughout its history.
The Telecaster 1951 American Vintage II features an ash body. The solid Canadian maple neck with '51 "U" profile plays beautifully, with its 7.25" (18.415 cm) radius fingerboard and vintage-height frets. A hallmark of 1951 production, the dot position markers at the 12th fret are closely spaced, and the only Phillips-head screw on the guitar is the truss rod adjustment nut. The triple brass-saddle bridge, "Fender Deluxe" in-line tuning machines and Pure Vintage '51 Telecaster pickups create the classic "twang" and the most authentic Fender style.
