In response to high-quality, low-priced import guitars, in 1979 Fender created the Lead Series, featuring a new solid-body design, fixed bridges and exciting new wiring options. Appealing to a wide range of musicians, the sleek new Lead models ushered in a new era of creativity in Fender's history.
The Player Lead III, a tribute to the sole original 1982 model, features powerful Player alnico humbucker pickups, dual toggle switches for pickup selection and coil-splitting, and a modern "C"-shaped neck with medium jumbo frets. Available in Purple Metallic, classic Olympic White, and Sienna Sunburst finishes.
